Gold climbed again on the Karachi sarafa board this morning, while the US dollar stayed steady against the rupee. The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA) board, posted at 05:00 PKT, puts 24K gold at Rs 428,600 per tola, up Rs 600 (+0.14%) from yesterday's Rs 428,000. Across the main rate trackers, 24K gold trades in a range of Rs 419,500–428,600 per tola this morning.
| Karat | Per Tola (11.66 g) | Per 10 Grams | Per Gram |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24K | Rs 419,500–428,600 (board Rs 428,600) | Rs 359,660–367,462 | Rs 35,966–36,746 (board Rs 36,746) |
| 22K | Rs 384,539–392,900 (board Rs 392,900) | Rs 329,695–336,852 | Rs 32,970–33,685 (board Rs 33,685) |

Why the figures differ: the sarafa board, the rate trackers and the international spot price are three different numbers. The board is the Karachi Sarafa Bazaar's own quote; the trackers convert the London spot price at their own dollar rates; and the spot-derived price — about Rs 417,699–420,070 per tola this morning — sits below the board because the board adds a local premium of roughly Rs 2,500 per tola plus import and dealer costs. Your jeweller's final quote will differ again, because making charges are added on top.
The board kept climbing after last night's late jump. The board stood at Rs 422,900 yesterday morning, then jumped to Rs 428,000 in a late re-post at 23:00 PKT; today's Rs 428,600 adds another Rs 600 — Rs 5,700 (+1.35%) above yesterday morning's board. The international spot price is steady: the LBMA spot is $4,063.80 per troy ounce on the SarafaGold board calculation and $4,047.70 per ounce on the live spot tracker, updated 02:18 UTC. Gold remains below the late-September highs near Rs 447,700 per tola.
The dollar is essentially flat. The interbank rate is Rs 276.70–277.20 per US dollar this morning (SBP interbank buying Rs 276.70, selling Rs 277.20, unchanged from yesterday; Rs 276.81 on the SarafaGold board, Finnhub 276.863), against Rs 276.70–277.20 yesterday — no change. The open-market cash rate is around Rs 277.50–280.00 (buying Rs 277.50, selling Rs 280.00), and card-network rates sit close to interbank (Visa bid Rs 276.47, ask Rs 276.93 for 28 October 2026). Over the past month the dollar has barely moved against the rupee.
Gold: the sarafa board starts from the LBMA international spot price, converts it at the open-market dollar rate, and adds the local premium — which is why the board rate is never exactly the converted spot price. Dollar: the interbank rate is what banks trade among themselves; exchange companies buy and sell cash to the public at the open-market rate, usually Rs 1–3 higher, with their own spread. Rates move through the day, so treat this post as a morning snapshot, not a live quote.
Important: this post is information only and is not financial advice. Always confirm the rate with your bank, exchange company or jeweller before buying or selling.
